About the Indigenous Boardriders Logoย

Designed by Yuin/ Gweagal Artist Emma Stewart

Our Connection to Sea Countryย

The Indigenous Boardriders logo was created by Yuin/Gweagal artist Emma Stewart in collaboration with the Yaala Girls, who contributed their ideas and concepts to help shape the design.

The logo represents the deep connection between Sea Country and Aboriginal people of the NSW South Coast. It celebrates the importance of the ocean in our lives, our connection to Country and the way surfing brings our people together.

Through its colours, patterns and symbols, the artwork reflects the relationship between land and sea, the strength of our communities and the passing of cultural knowledge between generations.

The Yaala Girls played an important role in the creative process, sharing their love of the ocean, surfing, Language and culture. Their contributions helped create an artwork that represents not only Indigenous Boardriders but also the next generation of young Aboriginal people growing strong in their connection to Country.

At its heart, the logo artwork celebrates who we are as Saltwater people, our connection to Sea Country and the importance of keeping culture strong for future generations.
